Friday Post

Saturday:
Egg White Omelet with veggies (mushrooms, bellpeppers, jalepeños, onions, scallions, olives) and a hint (and I do mean a hint) of cheese.
Bowl of oranges, cantaloupe and bananas bathed in 100% pure OJ and sprinkled lightly with 100% natural granola

Mexican. Need I say more? There was some emotional eating going on at this point...

Boba. Made of Coconut Milk, so not so bad, right?

Pretty much, I had a terrible RAW day. Lots of relationship, school, and life stress. My aim is balance. My goal is balance. Didn't run today either. Dag. I was on a roll.

Tomorrow:
Healthy "cereal", like I had today.
3 jars of green juices
1 pomegranate
1 mango
Large Salad for Dinner?

Tomorrow I will be campaigning from Dawn until Dusk. Not much time to think about food with an important election on our hands, right?

Thinking about changing my blog title from R.A.W. to "healthy eating" or something. Raw is really hard to do as a college student.

My First Day of Total Rawness

Monday, October 27, 2008

1 piece of Raw Fudge
Handful of Walnuts
Coconut Water
Water
4 Raw Falafel Lettuce Wraps
1 piece of Raw pumpkin pie

Note: I will probably have a green smoothie tonight too.

Man, today I can honestly say was my first 100% RAW day. The fact that we have finals right now makes it easier and harder to remain raw. One can get so stressed, busy, or pressed for time that you eat anything you can grab. In my case, today I was so focused on my midterm that I stayed on track. Note that it wasn't perfectly easy. I did have thoughts about eating very unhealthy things. I need another mental detox.

On another note, I have found that Young Thai Coconut Water is really good for detoxing the body. Everytime I drink it, I go straight to the bathroom!

Here are some health benefits/ facts about Coconut Water from living-foods.com:
  • It is a natural isotonic beverage with the same amount of electrolyte balance we have in our blood stream.
  • It is more nutritious than a glass of whole milk, with LESS fat and NO cholesterol
  • It is much healthier than orange juice with fewer calories
  • It is naturally sterile: water permeates through the filtering husk
  • It is high in potassium (~290 g/ 100ml)
  • It has been used around the word in IVs and plasma transfusions to save lives!
I wish I could have a glass/ day! Drinking it really makes me feel lighter, refreshed and detoxed!

Last week, I made Raw chocolate fudge with coconut:

I used the Raw Brownies recipe from Green Chefs. So delicious! It also had lots of cacao, a superfood I LOVE! This week I want to make potato chips in the dehydrator, but I don't have a knife (lol, I'm a college student). I need to go to get one. I would hate to ask someone if they have a shard knife I can borrow-- sounds a tad frightening.

My goals remain (added a few):
  • Run 30 minutes EVERY day
  • 1 green smoothie every day
  • Superfoods every day
  • Wheatgrass Shot every Week
  • Coconut Juice every week
  • October 27- November 3rd- 100% RAW!
